It's BasicGrey & Hero Arts Sketch Week!!!

I told you it would be something big!

BasicGrey and Hero Arts have teamed up to bring you a week's worth of sketches and inspiration over on the Hero Blog (and here too, of course!)! Headed by the amazing Jennifer McGuire, the Hero girls and I have created some really fun projects all based on sketches! Sketches are such fantastic timesavers and creative block destroyers that I can't get enough of them! So glad to be working with Hero during this week! Add to it that we're all using the same products each day so you'll really get to see diverse ways to use them!

To kick off the fun, we are pairing BasicGrey's newest line Bittersweet with Hero Arts' Patterned Hearts, an adorable new stamp set for 2009 that they just sneaked today! So let's get started :)

I did a layout for our first joint project. There are couple of techniques I used that you might find fun to try. First I cut away a large circle from my main base page, then mounted another page under it. I liked the the depth it created which is quite a bit different than if I had just cut a circle and mounted it on top of my base. For the "conversation hearts" I used Hero's Patterned Hearts stamped with white pigment ink onto white cardstock. I then embossed them with clear embossing powder. When that was done, I rubbed various shades of chalk ink over them to get this fun "resist". I finished by cutting them out with decorative scissors and scattering about my page. And because I couldn't find a title I wanted that fit in the space I had, I created my own in Word and cut it out with a craft knife.
Supplies:
BasicGrey Bittersweet Papers: Almond Toffee , Vanilla Fudge, Essence, Blushing Pink
BasicGrey Bittersweet Element Stickers
BasicGrey Bittersweet Chip Sticker ABCs
Hero Arts Patterned Hearts

Other:
Bazzill CS
Colorbox (Clearsnap) Chalk ink
Versacolor (Tsukineko) White Pigment Ink
Ranger Clear Embossing Powder
Queen & Co. brad
Zig Brown journaling pen

Here's the sketch Hero created off my layout so that you can create something fun of your own:
Now hurry and head over to Hero's blog for a card sketch by Jen and several other Bittersweet/Hero projects! I understand there's some great challenges you can participate in to win some goodies! (Here's a little sneak of her project...Isn't her son soooo cute!?!)

But before you go, be sure to post a comment (about the holidays, your favorite sketch site, your favorite BG or Hero products - anything, really!) sometime this week and you'll be entered to win a HUMONGOUS holiday package filled with goodies from both companies (and many others!) And be sure to check back each day this week for more Hero Arts and BasicGrey!

Happy Monday, all!

We are having so much fun here getting ready for the holidays! My kids & I made some really cute glittered monogram gift-tags for presents and some fun cards. My favorite Sketch site is pagemaps.com and the new Bittersweet line is so yummy and cute! That was a really sweet idea with the stamps doing a resist technique. My favorite Basic Grey at the moment is the Urban Prairie line. I could roll around in a pile of it. The colors and patterns are so scrumptious. Now if I could just cut it up without having seperation anxiety. HA ha.

I have used the Dasher line in summer layouts as well as winter! And the quality is superior! Thank you Kelly for keeping us up to speed on the new releases!! Merry Christmas!!

That layout is absolutely gorgeous, Kelly!
You know, I have tons of stamps and never stamp then cut out the design.. I need to start doing that and get more use out of my stamps! You've shown me with this layout how cool it can be and awesome embossing/coloring.. that technique looks cool!!

I love this new line.. It's very pretty and would work great for my Wedding layouts as those are my colors. Maybe once I get my hands on Bittersweet I will actually start my Wedding album. I've been putting it off for years. YIKES!

My favorite Basic Grey line is hands down Ambrosia. I can't get enough of it!
I think that since having my little guy I've really started to love the color orange .. I use it alot on his layouts and the orange in Ambrosia really caught my eye and makes me happy. I can't tell you how many times I've use that line and how versatile it is.
It ROCKS!!!

My favorite BG line is Ava, but I think I will really be enjoying Wassail this holiday. Just made a bunch of placecards with the "treelot" paper and added stems (from the brown solid backside), adhered them to little tentcards and stamped everyone's names on little tags. As for sketches. I guess I use pagemaps mostly and Hero - those hearts look adorable. Fingers crossed that you'll pick me! Happy holidays. Beautiful page and great use of both mfg's on your page.

I follow your website for inspiration and the like - but i would just like to say that i never win give aways. but its cool though... since im busy (whos not really with 2 toddlers and a husband?!?) i use the pagemaps by becky fleck. its easy, virtually foolproof - so not even i can screw it up! i also bought donna downeys book since all the photos came from 4x6 - which is what i mostly do since its so convenient and right from the printer. without editing any photos, its a great book. and a simple design! ive just recently started using some more of bg's product lime - i use it for my sweet adorable baby girl!

Kelly

I just love the heart layout. As I was drifting off to sleep last night I was thinging of this layout. In my drifting my idea was to do our family Christmas photo and do snowflakes in place of the hearts. Thanks for doing so much for Hero Arts!
