Ask me anything

Ok, well almost anything ;)

I've been getting quite a few emails lately asking questions about this or that and never quite know where to best answer them. So I'm taking a cue from some of my friends and giving formspring a try! Simply post your question in the box on sidebar to the right and ask away!

Happy Wednesday!
xoxo,
k.

How do you find the time to get creative and really produce something with all the demands of a mom and wife? Do you have a designated spot to create that you can walk away from and leave projects in process?

How do you do all the stitching on your LOs? I seem to remember you saying that you don't actually sew on them?? But it looks so real!

Also, what is your scrapping area like? Do you have a big room or closet, ect?

Thanks:)

How do you do your journaling? it all looks so... typed? I own a pazzles and have started using the pen tool... finally I found a font that resembles typing....but I would love to find out your secret?

And another one that has been hunting me (secret), how or what did you use to make the the checkered/black&white frame around the pictures of two of your layouts? (1571098... and ...little pout)?

Oh Michon. That balance is a daily struggle, especially since I work from home. I wish I had it all figured out but mostly I just take it day by day. I do, however, have a designated space that I can close off if I need to (and my boys are really good about not disrupting anything, too, thank goodness!)

Hi Kelly! I hand-draw all the stitching on my layouts as I don't have a sewing machine. I keep saying I'm going to get one, but have never broken down and gotten one! Perhaps the reason for that is my scrap space is just larger than a closet and room is at a premium.

Anyone good at organization out there that wants a remodel project??!

Hi Gaby! If my journaling looks typed, then most times it is. I have a variety of fonts that I love but my favorite typewriter font is "Mom's Typewriter". You can find it for free at dafont.com.

I think I probably handjournal/type journal 50/50 or so depending on what I think the layout calls for or the space I have available.

That B&W frame was also hand-drawn. I wish I had an easier way to do it or I'd do it more often! I used my trusty Pentel Energel and Uniball Signo pens. :)

Thank you so much for replying!!!

Re B&W frame - maybe this could be a good suggestion for Basic Grey designers? a stamp, perhaps? or a book of rub-ons? mmmmh

Kelly,
When you journal by hand, do you write out the journaling in pencil first to space it out? All of your journaling seems to fit perfectly in the spaces!
Thanks!
Karen

Hi Karen! I do if I think it's going to be a tight fit, but I've been known to eyeball it, too.

Kelly,
You are such an inspiration to me as a scrapper. Ever LO of yours that I see, I am so impressed. So, I was wondering...who is your inspiration in the scrap world? Also, are you thinking of doing any online classes? Would LOVE to take a class of yours! Happy weekend! Colby

Kelly, since you did state "ask me anything" here it goes: how come you did not design the new POTM for BG? I was hoping for your layouts! I received both March and April and .... definetly not you!

Kelly Goree Photography said...

You're so right, I didn't. But I just got word I will be doing May's page. :) I didn't do all of them last year either as we like to rotate designers to give different perspectives and a variety of scrappy styles!

So fun...

How long have you been with Basic Grey? It seems like I associate you with BG, since forever because you just seem to go hand in hand! =)

Ohhh...I just realized I was supposed to type this in the box in your sidebar, sorry! =)

HI! You don't know me, but I love to follow your blog. I want to know how in the world did you flip your slide show? I have tried and tried, and failed and failed!

I just asked you on the side, but do not see the comment here, so I will ask again.... how did you create the January composite of pictures that you posted here from shuttercal.com (because of you I joined Fef 14!! Thanks!!!!)
