Really ... the first comment?! Wow! My favorite halloween memory is from my childhood. After putting the pumkin out and hitting the streets to trick or treat we would come home and pose for pictures with all our halloween candy. Rosey cheeks, big grins, and a huge pile of candy ... what else could be better?!

Love your blog, thanks for sharing!

I remember living in Iowa going trick or treating and there was a few years that it snowed on Halloween. Now my son goes trick or treating and it is 70 degrees out here in CA.

My favorite Halloween memory are the handmade popcorn balls that a neighbor of mine made for all the neighborhood kids. We grew up on a very short dead end road and new everybody and it was the absolute BEST!! These were the first of the treats that my sisters and I would go for as soon as we got back home every year.

My favorite memory of my halloween was when I was about 4 years old. My mom made me and my brother Raggedy Ann and Andy costumes for halloween. I love Halloween and am sad now that my boys are older and don't trick-or-treat anymore.

Thanks for the chance to win. These papers are great

I remember my favorite Halloween was actually with my kids. I dressed them up and took out trick or treating. I loved how they held tightly held my hand as we would go up to the doors. Awww, the memories.

My daughter just turned 2 a few months ago & I love seeing her excitement for Halloween ... she helped pick out the pumpkins this year & she can't wait to carve one!
She loves her costumes & can't wait to trick or treat ~ she has been practicing!! hehe
So what I love most about Halloween now is starting our own family traditions & seeing her as happy as can be :)

Love the cards! My favorite tradition is the pumpkin patch! I enjoy each of us getting our own pumpkin and now my son is able to help carry them all! Happy early birthday!

I think my favorite Halloween was when I was about 24 (yes I know!) and I had a room mate from Australia who'd never celebrated Halloween before, so we were "teaching" her all the traditions from costumes, to trick or treating (well, handing out candy to trick or treaters!)

Jennifer said...

I have SO many great memories from halloween as a child. Several years, my mom made my costumes, which were (IMHO) SO much better than the plastic capes and masks. :) Trick or Treating began at school, carrying on to a whole evening affair. So fun!

Jennifer Cowan said...

Mostly I remember my costumes that my parents helped me make. I never had a store bought costume, my parents always came up with great ideas and we made them come to life. I always got comments on how unique my costumes were!

Best Halloween memory is the year I was Strawberry Shortcake. I loved my dress SO much and wanted to wear it all week. I remember walking in the halloween parade at school and being SO proud of my costume. I wish i still had it!

My favorite Halloween moment from childhood was the homemade costumes my mom would sew every year...back then they didn't have the fancy costumes you could just go out an buy so I always had the best costumes. Unfortunately I did not inherit the sewing gene so my favorite memory with my children is decorating pumpkins for the neighborhood pumpkin carving contest...everyone gets a prize and it is so fun!

First of all Happy Birthday Week!! Hope you have fun and celebrate all week long! Love all your fun projects. A favorite Halloween tradition of mine is going to the annual Halloween party that a neighbor of ours throws every year. The whole neighborhood shows up and it is great fun!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I absolutly love halloween! My favorite thing is the smell of the jackolantern when the candle is lit...reminds me of when I was a kid. Our halloween tradition is to hold a sort of impromptu party on our large front porch after trick or treating is over. All the neighbors come over for snacks and drinks and there is the usual trading of treats between all the kids.

Sorri four the deleties, My Typins iz dreadyul...:)

I grew up in England, way back when we did not celebrate Halloween... We had mischeivious night, mat night, knock-door-run and Guy Fawkes night which we call Bommy night. It happens on November the 5th and my family would build a great big fire right in the midle of the grass, no safety gates, walls or fences. We would burn anything and everything, including my "looby-Loo" doll, old couches and a piano and... well you get the idea. The BEST part of "bommy" night was jacket potatoes loaded with butter and eaten with a teaspoon...or was it mum's toffee apples.. home made no less..or perhaps it was the hotdogs with fried onions, or maybe it was sitting in front of the dying fire, when supper and fireworks were done, cold backs and warm faces. I even remember my mum carving a TURNIP! (We did not have pumpkins in England as far as I know). You can see where I get my crafting inclination... I miss this celebration the most since I move to Canada 20+ years ago!

Oh I adore the goodies.....love me some BG!!!!! One of my favorite memories of Halloween is how much my mom and I worked together to have the perfect costume....no store bought costume for me and I passed that along when I had my daughter....All the preparation for the Perfect costume to parade the streets to gather all the goodies!!!! CHOCOLATE!!!!! :-)

I don't have much a favorite memory as a child, but as a mom, I do! My boys like going to our chuch carnival. My oldest son with Autism is pretty cute at the trunk or treat portion. Once he gets a lollipop, his favorite, he's done. He rips that puppy open and has a smile the rest of the night :)

I second the BG Card Kit love fest!! A while back, I needed to make 5 cards in a week. I just didn't have time to come up with and execute 5 designs in one week. I picked up a BG card kit and in just a few hours, I had all the cards I needed!! Since then, I've gotten a couple more kits, just so I always have a card on hand.

Happy Halloween!!!

my favorite halloween tradition is taking my children out to trick or treat. My husband used to go with them but when I discovered he didn't really enjoy it I jumped at the chance to go out with them and leave him to give out the treats at our door. I love the community feeling of the evening - everyone out with their kids with a hot cup of something in their hands. I love talking with all the neighbors and enjoying the cool crisp evening.

My fav. memory was getting my highlights magazine and seeing a craft to make a candy holder. You would take an 8 pack cardboard holder and decorate it with paper and markers and stickers. It was the kind that held glass pop bottles. I was the hit of the neighborhood. (although seeing this written I feel really, really old-since they don't make glass pop bottles anymore and crafting wasn't in style and I'm not even 40 yet)

I live in Chicago, my good friend lives out in the suburbs. When I had my first child we would go to her house, trick or treat and have grill cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. % years later and a total of three children we still go to her house to do our trick-or-treating. We will be moving out of the state after Thanksgiving so this will be our LAST Halloween with my friend Marie. So sad, we were wanting to continue the tradition when she has kids. She is getting married in December. But if we are back in Chicago for Halloween we are defiantly going to Marie's...it's TRADITION.

Our favorite tradition is riding the Pumpkin Train. There is a company near hear that usually does a dinner train but during October, they run the Pumpkin Train on Saturdays. We ride the train to the "pumpkin patch", pick the perfect pumpkin and then ride back to the depot. They serve hot cocoa and cookies on the train. My kids look forward to it every year!

Cynthia Baldwin said...

My favorite Halloween memory is from a couple years ago. My then-8year-old son refused to go trick-or-treating. He said that he "didn't get it" and would just pass out candy. After some 15-20 minutes of handing out candy, sitting with other adults on our street, and looking at all the OTHER kids having fun, he then figured out that he really ought to be out there having fun and getting candy!! ;) He grabbed a pumpkin bucket and proceeded to go trick-or-treating as "glowstick man" (for lack of a better costume). For such a serious little man, he had a GREAT time, and he's one of the first now, to pick out a Halloween costume. :)

Awesome cards! Thanks for the chance to win!!

I have too many great Halloween memories because this is my birthday week as well! My birthday is the 29th, and I always had the most awesome birthday parties. One of my favorites that I remember is turning 8 I believe. My family owned an old church like building, and we had a huge haunted house/birthday party in it. It was awesome! The main floor had fun kid friendly games, bobbing for apples, relays, etc., and the basement rooms were different haunted themed rooms. There were drunk monsters at a bar, a caged and crazy gorilla, a room with a chainsaw man, etc. It was awesome! I hope to one day host haunted houses like that. Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday!

I grew up in New Zealand so never got to Trick or Treat till I had kids. When my boys were toddlers I spent hours making them the cutest little Panda and Lion costumes. We walked up and down the street Halloween night. It was so much fun for me, though my boys were really too young to get anything out of the cold, dark walk. I think they enjoyed visiting the neighbours and being spoilt rotten :)

My favorite Halloween tradition has to be my son dressing up as a garbage can to spook unsuspecting victims. We took an actual garbage can and altered it so that my son could wear it - cut out the bottom etc. My son then poses as said garbage can sitting by the front door. Next to him I place a giant bowl of "unguarded" candy. Most kids are so busy contemplating helping themselves to the bowl of candy they fail to notice my son the garbage can until he jumps up and says Boo!. The shrieks, screams, and giggles we get are hilarious and people always leave laughing because he surprises them when he sticks his head out of the can. Victims even wait and watch my house from nearby houses for the next person to get scared by my son. You would think after several years of doing this the kids would catch on - but they never do. In fact, one year my dd's friend even came to school and started to tell dd about it, and dd laughed and said that was my brother.

My favorite Halloween ... when my kids were 4 yrs. old and they went as a pair of dice... they're twins, get it? Pair of dice, twins... ok, ok, I know, I'm lame. My kids think so too but I thought it was so clever. And, they looked really cute. Too bad I don't have any good pictures of them, it was before I became a scrapper.

This will be my baby girl's 1st Halloween so I know it will be the beginning of many wonderful Halloweens to come. I think my favourite Hallowe'en memory may be last year at work. I was on the social committee and we did a *super* job of decorating the haunted hallway etc. People RAVED and raved about the decorations and we had *tonnes* of treats that people brought in to share. I think that was one of the highest moments of morale in our office. Yay!

My favorite Halloween tradition is carving the pumpkin with my mom! It has always been a big event for us to do together because it was just one more way for us to be creative! Well this year, we decided to each carve one and have trick-or-treaters vote on them! We will see who wins! hehe

I always thought that one of my favorite memories of Halloween would be when I was a kid and we would eat pot pies before venturing off with either my mom or dad to go trick or treating. And then I had kids. To see such joy and excitement in picking the costumes and going trick or treating and getting that first piece of candy in their buckets when they actually understand it all. Those moments are what I will always remember and will by my favorite memories forever.
Have a great day.
We have tons lined up for Halloween celebrations starting on Friday night even.

A very happy Halloween memory was a few years ago when my daughter and friends were trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. The streets were closed to traffic and so full of children and parents. A numer of houses had entire lawns filled with decorations and dry ice machines filling them with eerie fog and real "monsters" giving out candy. Lots of fun, laughter, and squeals.

My favourite Halloween memory from my childhood was the year we went to a Halloween party at one of the local churches. The activities were fantastic and so much fun. I remember thinking how creative the people were who put it all together --- never would have know we were in a church. Another favourite memory is from my teen years. My youth group did a Halloween sleep over in our church. It was really spooky playing hide and seek in the empty and dark church --- and the bats in the belfry really added to the experience. Now I'm loving Halloween from the parent side, watching my children get excited about dressing up and going out. Love it!!!!

There is so much I love about Halloween and we have quite a few traditions, too. I'll share a funny memory with you...The year my son turned 2 (in early October) he dressed up as a cowboy for Halloween. Right before we left the house, he tumbled off our porch steps and scraped up his face just below one eye. All night everyone would ask what happened to him and we'd tell them he got into a fight back at the saloon!

What a great giveaway! My favorite Halloween memory which years later makes me laugh is how many times I think I dressed up as a Gypsy. It was always a great excuse to wear all of my Mom's jewelry. My 10 yr old daughter wouldn't dream of being the same thing from year to year. Times do change!

Halloween is my favorite time of year! My favorite memory is actually from last year...it was the warmest Halloween on record, and the kids weren't bundled up in snow suits in there costumes, and you could actually tell what each child was dressed up as without having to rely on face make-up. We live in Canada, and it's very very rare not to have encorporate a winter jacket under your costume. :)

So a little about my "warped" family. We used to blow up a white balloon and cover it with a plastic garbage bag, also white and hang it from our flag pole. We also had Halloween music coming from our house, which was at the end of the dead end street. Kids would turn around when they heard the music. I *suspect* that my dear dad wanted to scare kids away so he could have more treats. Thanks for helping me have a special memory of my dad, who has been gone two years tomorrow.

Haha, first I just commented on how cute your cards were and totally forgot the favorite Halloween memory part. Okay - that's tough... so many good ones. I threw together a lot of costumes kind of random and last minute, there was the year in middle school that I had dyed my hair blue and dressed as a maid and had a blue feather duster. That was pretty funny. Or the year I randomly decided that day that I was going to go trick-or-treating with some friends after all, and grabbed an orange dress, drew leaves up and down my arms with green eyeshadow, and called myself a forest nymph. Good times.

Growing up in northern Utah it was hit or miss just how much snow we would have to wade through to trick to treat. Didn't really matter and it never spoiled the fun! My favorite Halloween memory is picking out a pumpkin - there were several neighbors who grew them and then sold the pumpkins in their front yards ;-) After I had my pumpkin, I couldn't wait to carve it - and then watch the candle glow inside. Fun stuff :-)

I love the whole Halloween/ Fall Season! Starting with the visit to the pumpkin patch!! It is my absolute favorite place to capture photos of the kids! As far as Halloween traditions, I make a huge pot of chili with cornbread early in the afternoon. By the time the kids are done trick or treating they can't wait to dig in! Nothing like that warm cozy feeling after being out in the chilly Halloween weather!!

As a young teenager, one of my favorite things to do was to go to Haunted Houses. We used to go every year, and try to find a new one to go to. For some reason, over the years, I have lost my love for fear. HA. So, now, as an adult, I enjoyed handing out candy to the little trick-or-treaters, as opposed to visiting any scary haunted houses!

we arent trick or treating this year. The flu has hit our area like a mad man and its not worth it. So ds and i will hit the mall for a movie and dinner

A Halloween memory that sticks out in my mind..
when my husband and I were first married, I wanted some caramel apples. He said he had never tried them. So we got apples, and made some. Needless to say, he didn't like them, and a lot of apples went to waste, b/c I couldn't eat all of them. It was a fun experience with the hubby!
Now I love seeing the excitement on my kids face when it's time for candy! Priceless.
Thanks for the chance!!

My favorite Halloween tradition is dressing up the family in theme oriented costumes. This year we are dressing as characters from the movie Men In Black -- and that includes our pug dog. I can't wait!

I love Halloween and have so many great memories and traditions. Our newest and most fun Halloween tradition is spending the day with Dh's Grandma. We spend the whole day at her house with all the other Grandkids and Great Grandkids. We have a huge pot luck and play games all day until it's time to get the tricker treaters ready. Then the fun costume chaos begins lol.

I'm starting to celebrate my birthday week too! Hope yours is a great one.

Right now my fave memory is the Halloween that my husband and his brother went with the corny costumes.

DH--wore sweats with lots of pictures of Robert DeNiro....he was Mucho DeNiro....his brother wore black with fake money all over his clothes....he was Johnny Cash.....super silly but so much fun.

If I win its time to scrap those photos.

Thanks!!!

Wow, those are some amazing projects! My favorite Halloween memory was when my mom handmade me a fairy princess costume in my favorite color, purple. She made one of the long cone hats with matching fabric hanging out the end and covered the cardboard in tin foil so it was silver and glued some fantastic plastic jewels around it. I won 1st prize in the school costume contest.

My favorite halloween memory was when I would spend weeks and weeks trying to decide what I wanted to be. It changed about 5-10 times and then finally I'd end up being what my first choice was. I was so indecisive! haha, anyways I love the Eerie line! So cute! You're my fav!

I have better memories of Halloween as an adult actually, we've dressed up as some pretty great costumes over the years and usually win a prize at the party we go to. Thanks!

My uncle would take us trick or treating around town and he was like a big kid himself, always decked on in some crazy costume. One year he went as a mummy (fully wrapped!)

Here in Australia, Halloween isn't that special. One of my coworkers (a Canadian) said her kids really missed the trick or treating. We set up a spooky hallway, dressed up and had a lolly buicket so the kids had their Halloween :)

Our neighborhood always did a block party for the kids. I remember running around in costumes and eating cupcakes before trick or treating! What were our parents thinking??

I always loved taking my kids out trick or treating with the neighbors. My youngest turned 13 and isnt going this year... bummer....

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays!!! I don't have one favorite memory to share, but I loved the tradition every year of walking our small KY town from one end to the other visiting friends and coming back with lots of goodies! My was killed when I was 8 and we lost many of our traditions with her, but Halloween was one my dad kept going.

My favorite Halloween memory was staying out wandering around the neighborhood until there were no more porch lights on... LOL before there were scheduled hours for trick or treat... it started when the sun went down and ended when there was no house left to get candy from...

Seriously, my best and worst memory is a super wet and rainy halloween. We were cold and wet but determined to get candy. I can't beleive my parents even let us go out, lots of good memories

My best halloween memory is going trick or treating with my oldest friend when we were 13 or 14. way too old to go out but we had a blast!

So many good memories it's hard to pick one! I loved going trick or treating with my best friend and my Dad and then coming home home and dumping all our candy out on the dining room table. Then we'd start trading...it's was a complicated negotiation!
Gorgeous cards!!

I loved Halloween as a kid. The leaves would change, we'd trick or treat for Unicef, dress up for Girl Scout parties, school parties, church parties, and Halloween night! Lots of pretending and haunted houses!

My favorite Halloween/Fall tradition is to take the kiddies to our local pumpkin patch. let them pick out the biggest pumpkins there and then take their pictures in front of the same fence each year to see how much they have grown.

My favorite Halloween tradition is dressing up my poor dog in costumes. She tolerates it but never seems to look happy in the photos.

Jamie said...

My most vivid Halloween memory is coming home after trick or treating and dumping out my pillow case (which is what we used to hold the candy) on the floor and going through my loot, separating what I determined "good" candy from the stuff I didn't like.

My favorite memory was dressing up with my sister and cousins who lived down the road and trick-or-treating one year in the pouring rain. Needless to say, we made out like bandits because of the weather, not many other kids were out! Thanks for the great givewaway. Hope your family is healthy again soon!

My favourite memory is last years Halloween, my 1st one as a Mommy I dressed my then 3month old son as a pumpkin - he looked so cute. I don't think I will ever forget that one :o)

Since moving to the midwest autumn/halloween has become one of my favorite times of year. I LOVE the changing colors of the leaves, the crispness to the air and of course getting to pick our pumpkins straight out of the patch! NO busy road side stands for us any longer!

First of all, I am so sorry your son has the flu. I pray he recovers very fast!
My first Halloween memory was trick or treating with my little sister when I was around 6 years old. We were going to my grandparents to surprise them with our costumes and my mom hid behind a tree. Instead of going with the master plan - my little sister said "Hi Grandma" when she opened the door and I was so upset with her because she ruined the "surprise". HA HA

Hope your little love recovers quickly -- mine did, fortunately. As far as Halloween goes, my favorite part has been making coordinating costumes for my two kids. We've come up with some awesome ideas over the years, and the memories always make me smile!

My favourite Halloween memory is from one of the houses we lived in when I was a kid. The stair case in the house was right at the front door. My dad thought it would be fun to scare people so he rigged a big ghost at the top of the stairs. When someone opened the door it flew down and stopped...right in front of your face!! Oh we scared quit a few that night!

Heres a true fact about Halloween for you! Jack O Lantern actually originated here in Ireland! We didn't have pumpkins here, so turnips were used instead. When the tradition was carried to US thats where pumpkins were used instead! Funny, cos now we all carve pumpkins here now!
Happy Halloween.

My best memory is our first year in our house giving out candy. The little ones started coming even before dark and this one tiny fellow dressed as Spiderman literally attached himnself to my window in such a sweet rendition of a spider. What a cutie!

My favorite Halloween tradition/memory...it's so hard to pick! I think last year's Halloween was one of my favorites because my son was able to wear the same m&m costume made by my mom that I wore when I was small.

I love this time of year! My favorite Halloween memory is when I was about 5 yrs old and my mom made my brother and I polka-dotted clown costumes complete with rick-rack and red toule! We wore hats and even got to wear MAKE UP! I was sooo excited when my mom was putting her lipstick on my cheeks and around my mouth to make a big smile. Of course, my dad always got a kick out of playing the scary reel to reel music and haninging rubber bats, spiders and webs all over the place to scare everyone in the neighborhood. Ahhh, such good times! lol :D Cheri
