It's a Two-fer!

I mentioned last week (earlier this week?) that I just *might* be a little giveaway sometime soon...and it looks like that time is NOW! And since I felt so bad that it took me so long to get it posted, I'm not doing just one, but TWO! The first is a PORCELAIN prize pack that included the 18 sheets of Porcelain papers, the glazed brads, regular brads and a set of bitty stamps. The other prize is exactly the same, but features the new LIME RICKEY! Fun, fun stuff here! Perfect for getting you out of any *February Funk* you might be in. Trust me, the funk is dangerous....just ask my best friend! ;)
Anyhow...the details. I'm going to make you work a bit for this one, folks. I am looking for Valentine's ideas. Lay some of your best ones on me, I've got some planning to do :) You have until 11:59 PM Friday, the 13th (eeps!) and then I'll pick two winners (one for each package) this Saturday morning, Valentine's Day, as my own little thank you.

XO,
k.

I'm not a scrapper but my wife is (and this is her favourite site). I loved when she woke me up with a huge heart made of candle lights on the floor. That was a very sweet and unexpensive way to celebrate valentines day (she made pancaces too :) )

We are having a Valentine's Day Treasure Hunt at our house. I made each kid and my DH a treasure bottle (instructions and pictures here: http://pennysmiscellany.com/blog/?p=4060) I made 3 clue cards and they have to find each clue by solving the riddle to finally find their bottle. Inside the bottles I've tucked gift cards, candy, necklaces, etc. I think it's going to be a big hit. I'm also planning on getting up early and putting doily hearts with little reasons I love each of them all around the house to make it festive. We are going to end our day with an at home fondue dinner - Yum!

There are some really good ideas that have been sent in! I love the whole "Valentine" experience. Picking out Valentine Cards - we usually and stamps and stickers, glue gunning them to the candy the kids will pass out. One year I found small plastic cars about 1/2 inch and we glued them onto a red flat card that said "You drive me crazy for you, Valentine" and then stamped tire tracks with a Glitz Roller. One year we found powdered candy in small baby bottles and we made "valentine" bibs to go on the outside that said "Won't you be my baby, Valentine?" My kids have "Movie Night" with Red Velvet cupcakes and Mom & Dad venture to a cozy dinner in a restaurant all decorated with the red foil hearts... I love going out on Valentine's with everyone all dressed in their red. So festive! Love the Lime Rickey! -Susan B.

For Valentines every year - I make Baskets for all my family. I usually put a DVD, popcorn, candy and for Valentines day - We have dinner together and I make a Valentine cake - not very orginal but the kids love it.

I have a little iron tree that I hang handmade hearts from stamps, chipboard etc. I can change it with the holidays. I always make my husband a heart shaped cherry pie. His favorite.

OK, I'm not sure if you are looking for scrapbooking ideas or general ideas...but I'd do breakfast with heart shaped pancakes or waffles (maybe with a smiley face on top using berries or whipped cream). I'd make heart shaped cookies or chocolates. I'd make a mobile to hang from the chandeliers using chipboard and scrapbook paper. I'd do a mini book for my significant other and/or kids. (in the mini book, I'd use the free tickets Crystal Rieger has on the MM blog, that are love themed, as embellishments). Hope this helps.

lwarren737 said...

Tough question...breakfast with heart shaped pancakes and rasberries, a fabulous dinner with chocolate covered strawberries (they are often even heart shaped in a abstract way).

I'd make decorations to hang from the ceiling or chandelier, heart shaped ornaments with photos on one side, and message on the other, maybe a banner to hang along the staircase. And of course, mini album for significant other or kids. Maybe a chilled berry soup - especially if it's pink, just seems to fit well.

My plans for Valentine's include a pancake breakfast with the pancakes the shape of hearts, we always put lots of strawberries and raspberries in the batter so they look red! Hubby and I "exchange" gifts by letting the other buy something they really want...like scrapbooking supplies lol!
Love those two BG lines, but especially the Lime Rickey! Amazing colours and depth!
Happy Valentines Day and thanks for the chance to win :)

I'm taking those same photos putting a copy in valentine's day frame (under the pic it says, "You & me" with a metal heart underneath) and giving it to the person in the photo.

I got one of those mini tin mailboxes from Michaels and decorated it with ric rac and scrapbook papers. I plan on putting candy inside for my mom. Thanks for the chance to win!

I just love those 2 lines. What a great give away!!!! Well the best Valentine for my husband is going to a movie and supper in the City. We don't get to do that as often as we used to so that would be his favorite thing to do. Our Valentine will be Friday before he is working all weekend. I also just had fun making goodie bags for my 3 year old son and his friends at daycare. He just loved picking out the goodies for all his friends.

I always make our dinner instead of going out- almost always seafood pasta with chocolate mousse and strawberries for dessert.

I think I am going to put together a coupon book for my hubby for things that he normally does around the house - and maybe for a few romantic things too ;).

Kelly, I got an error posting, so if this shows up twice, I apologize.

We used the bittersweet line to make Valentine's this year. We took two sizes of cookie cutters and used the smaller to cut hearts out of pp and the larger for cs. We glued the two together. Then I cut two slots in the middle of the hearts. We then stamped "Happy Valentine's Day" in between the two slots. The valentines for girls we glued lace to the backside of the valentines so it would show around the outside edge. Then we took valentines pencils we found at the Dollar Tree and inserted them through the slots we cut. Very easy and cute.

I really adore that Porcelain line.

Steph :)

I just like getting a card + chocolate for valentine's! My oldest DD is in kindergarten, so she'll be coming home with some cards from classmates. Me + my kindergartener will be making some val's cards for my youngest DD, b/c she will see her sister's cards and want some. So we'll make sure she gets some, too.

This year since V-Day falls on Saturday my plan is to make a super yummy breakfast filled with red's and heart shaped food. For a little afternoon snack I have ordered chocolate covered strawberries for all of us to munch on.

Well, for the kiddos I always make them a special lil valentines that usually involves cookies. We have heart shaped pancakes with what else but choc. chips and whip cream! Hubby and I write each other a letter each year...it may just be a quick note someyears and long novels others! Corny, I know but I really hate all the commercialized merchandise for this holiday.

WOW, you've got some wonderful posts and ideas going for ya Kelly.
My husband and I have been celebrating with a group of friend (8 couples) for the last 9 years. We get together and have a formal 6or 7 course meal, very elegant. After dinner, we go to one of the couples home where they have a dance floor and we dance the night away. This year, I have done little goodie bags for their departing gift for sweet dreams of chocolate and mint....yummmm
(The goodie bags were featured by Jennifer McGuire at Hero Arts. They are quick and easy and a delight to everyone who receives them!!)

Love the new BG! I've been waiting patiently and was not disappointed!

Valentines Day in our house looks like we live in Target. I pick up a few things every year to add to my kitchen collection. We do the heart shaped everything. I bought the adorable Valentine owl placemats this year. TOO CUTE!

Sarah said...

Well, for my little one's party I gave all the children a shovel, put it in a cello bag with conversation hearts in the bottom, stamped a tag with hearts and printed "I Dig You" on the computer on the tags. If your husband is an outside/gardening guy you could use a shovel for his fun gift.

I am almost finished with my Valentine garland. I got fun thick ribbon, cut hearts, x's and o's and put all of them and red/white buttons all across it. It will hang in my kitchen.

For teacher gifts, I got red pillar candles and wrapped white ric rac and heart ribbon around them. I kept the ribbon in place with white thumbtacks. They turned out cute.

For the kids, we will have heart shaped pancakes on Saturday morning, along with opening their Valentine presents. My mom and Dad always made a big deal out of Valentine's Day with us girls, so I want to do the same in my home.
Have fun!

Wow...everything looks great! I usually decorate and give cards and candy to friends and loved ones. This year I forgot to decorate. I know, that's so weird but I just only realized this week that I hadn't put the stuff out and figured it was too late. Next Year!

For valentines for friends this year I have filled baggies with Teddy Grahams, tied them with red ribbons and added tags that say, "Bear Hugs from Abby." I got this idea out of Family Fun Magazine.

Love the bright colored paper!!! Fun colors are my favorite part of card making.

Thanks for the chance to win Kelly!

Valentine's Day is for the people we love and the best way to do it is by doing something really sweet for the other party...something you may not ordinarily do because it's not really what you like. And be happy doing it...it should not be a chore but an unconditional act of love.

Neither my husband or I like crowds... which means going out on THE DATE night of the year is NOT on our fun list.

Instead, every year, we have a romantic night in.

My son (5) helps make the table decor... usually paper hearts and such. He LOVES to make place markers...even though there are just three of us. It's also tradition to make little quilled heart "fortunes" for each of us.

I always cook a nice meal for the family. We use the good dishes, light candles, etc. My husband serves us, and we linger at the table just talking over dessert as we would at a resturant.

After that, we move a tv into my son's room, he gets to choose a movie and/or game to keep him busy, and my husband and I get the evening to ourselves to snuggle and watch movies and talk.

I like adhering hearts on fishing line (so you can't see it) and hanging it over my dining room table. This way it looks like the hearts are floating in the air.
Happy Valentines Day!

Kelly, I love love love all of your beautiful pages!!! You are such an inspiration to me! So excited about these new lines! Love the porcelain for my little girl! I am making a heart shaped carrot cake for my hubby since that is his favorite. Then covering it in all kinds of pretty decorations. Then for his card I am stamping my 16 month olds feet (with the heels together) to make a heart shape. I always decorate the bathroom mirror with kisses and love notes using lipstick! I think I have more fun doing that one! Then for my little one I made a princess crown out of hearts. I plan on doing a few last minute photos of her wearing that on making lipstick kisses on the card for my husband. Hope this helps! Happy V-Day!

A perfect way to start Valentines Day is heart shaped pancakes layered with sweetened creme fraiche, nutella and summer fruits like cherries, blueberries and raspberries (I am from NZ and we have summer fruit at the moment!).

I absolutely love the new BG papers and as always you have shared lots of fantastic ideas for using them!

I am making a little 4x4 mini album for my honey of 12 years (high school sweethearts) of picutres of us through out the years. I think making something so special is more meaningful.
Also we celebrate out valentines the weekend after due to the crowds and me, less drama at the resturants. I also think the movies would be good to go to as well.
