Hap-PEA Anniversary to me!

***THANK YOU! CONTEST IS NOW OVER. STAY TUNED FOR WINNER! ***

Saturday will mark five years (and 12,000 posts!) as a Pea for me. Has it really been that long??! I find it hard to really put into words what the TwoPeas community has done for me. I give the site and the wonderful members and friends I've made there all the credit for evolving my scrapbooking into what it is today - whatever that is! But seriously, it's so true. When people ask me how I got started scrapbooking, I mention two things...one was my group of online mom's that I met when Ethan was born as they were the ones who directed me to 2peas and motivated me to actually pick up some scissors (Hi, Jan '00 Moms!), and then of course, 2peas itself.

The very. first. time. I visited, I managed to find my way to Ali Edwards' garden seeds. I was so blown away (and greatly intimidated!) that after looking at a few pages, I shut the window down on my computer and didn't go back for months. True story! (Betcha didn't know that, didja, Ali?! lol)

When I finally did go back, I just drank it all in like a sponge. I'm quite sure I didn't post a darn thing except for praise for months on end. I watched and looked and tried to learn as much as I could. It was at least 2 months after that when I finally had the nerve to post my very first page. Since then, there's been no looking back! I've had so many amazing opportunties that I couldn't have dreamed of just by being a part of 2peas. So today, to Kristina and Jeffrey, I want to give my heartfelt 'thank you' for helping me find my passion. I was forever changed and I am forever grateful!

So you know I couldn't leave this post without a little giveaway to celebrate...ok a BIG giveaway! If you leave me a comment by 11:59 EDT SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15th telling me what made you start scrapbooking or the biggest influence on your scrapbooking, you'll be entered to win not only a Wassail Card kit but 3 sets of Wassail stamps. And let me tell you why this is huge...those stamps and card kit are now SOLD OUT!! at BasicGrey (YAY!!!!) so once they're gone from stores, they're gone. (This is also true for my baby - the 2009 Calendar kit! We were amazed at the response it got! And I'm so excited it did so well!) So this is your chance!

Do a little celebrating for me today, ok?!

k.

I started scrapbooking in 1995 when my first child was born. It was just cardstock pictures and colored pens then. I took a year off from SBing when my second child was born in 1999, and then a friend introduced me to Creative Memories. I found CK and 2Peas soon after that and became what I call an "obsessed scrapbooker"!

Happy Anniversary! I love your work, and your boys are so handsome!

Glad that you shared your story. Isn't that what scrapbooking is all about? I think it is neat to hear what made people get into being creative.
I think I needed something to be creative in... I started a wedding album when my mother-in-law had done one for her daughter and didn't really have the energy to do two. When I met a AU! consultant that my sister was working with, I realized that stamping was the way I wanted to go and ai completey STARTED OVER! I've been hooked ever since. One blog leads to another in this industry! Kristina WErner and Kelly Purkey are probably my favorite inspiration!

Happy
Anniversary!! Thanks for sharing your art and a part of your lives with us.
I started scrapping about ten years ago. I just have to laugh when I see some of the first layouts I ever did. I award myself a "do-over" for the ones that make roll around in the floor for over five minutes.
I thought scrapbooking would be a nice "cheap" HA! hobby I could do when I wasn't feeling well. Oh my !! LOL

I have always loved all the scrapbooking stuff and even before I even started to scrap even a little I would buy all the cute little things that I saw when going into a store:).. Now that I have finally begun to create things I am starting to use it up. I would say my biggest influence is my Aunt who is so creative and she inspires me to create things.

Happy Anniversary! Thanks for sharing your story. It's always nice hear where everyone started and how much they have accomplished.
I always wanted to scrapbook but didn't know where to start. My boss had been doing it for years and was available to answer any questions that I had and I started to pick up a few items each week. It's funny because we did not get along at all and scrapbooking was the ONLY thing that we could talk about without fighting. (needless to say I found somewhere else to work where I am much happier)
I started just randomly putting things together and then as I learned techniques I realized that my pages were little docorating projects and I could make them whatever I wanted them to be.
The folks that inspire me the most as the ones that get to do this everyday and then share their work with others.

I started scrapbooking when I first got married...back in 1998. I found a kit at Costco and then found some scrapbook items at Michaels. Eventually a scrapbook store opened in my area.

One of the workers at that store told me about 2peas...seeing all the great ideas over there has really helped me find my style.

I started scrapping in 2003, and at the time, I concentrated on buying the latest and greatest. My goal was to make pictures look nice.
Recently, a blog post by Ali Edwards made me realize I should be focusing on words and pictures. These are the things that future generations will cherish. That was by far the biggest influence on my scrapbooking.

Happy Anniversary! What a fun way to remember it too!

I started scrapping "for real" when DH and I got engaged. I'd always been putting memorabilia and pictures in photobooks, but it was after we got engaged that I started buying patterned paper, stickers, and such. That was 7 yrs. ago this month, and I'd never imagined then how addicted I am now!

I started scrapbooking in 2001 when my friend invited me to a creative memories party she was having. I have been ADDICTED ever since! I love the fact that I'm preserving our family's history for years to come!

I started scrapbooking about seven years ago and cannot believe how everything has changed. My son inspires me to scrap because I want to remember the little details of him growing up.

well happy anniversary!

a neighbor got me scrapbooking - though it wasn't difficult because I've always had a love for paper, pens, and all office supplies! then my step sis pushed me even further (she's a CTMH rep)! I've been hooked COMPLETELY since 2005 and am so grateful my kids humor me with photo shoots so I always have something for my pages :)

I've always loved crafty stuff and a few years ago, when I was in Ontario for a cousin's wedding, I saw her scrapbooks. I couldn't wait to come home and start myself - I've been hooked ever since! So lucky I discovered this before my wedding and first baby, I now have incredible visual memories to pass along.

So...I know this is a little sad but I've already put up my Christmas tree! I've been stamping and crafting for Christmas the past week and I just got overly excited! Oh! the things crafting can do to you! =) Happy Anniversary! I think I've always been a scrap booker at heart. I've always collected stuff over the years...but realized I was running out of room to store everything! So I officially became one about 2 years ago. =)

Happy Anniversary Kelly!

I started scrapbooking after the birth of my first daughter in 2004. Since then she has been my inspiration. Now that my 2nd daughter is born, I have twice as much inspiration. I scrapbook for them.

Thanks for the chance at winning some BG awesome products!

Kelly, what a great tale! And congratulations!! I completely understand your story. I began scrapbooking about 8 years ago as something fun to do, and my pages couldn't have compared to what I see now (and am maybe starting to do). I recently got into cardmaking and stamping when I made my own wedding stationery and I am slowly making my way back to scrapping. I am constantly inspired by other people and credit this to the wonderful tool that is the internet. I have posted a few things at 2peas and have entered contests there and at Hero Arts and the positive support from fellow crafters is enough to keep me plugging away and developing my style. And as my husband works on a family history project, I am realizing the growing importance of this "hobby", now and for the future of our little family. Keep up the good work! :)

I resisted scrapping for several years when it first became really popular. Then our first baby came along . . . and I felt the desire to document her life in photos and words. Four more kids later, and I'm so happy to have albums full of our family memories and adventures :)

Happy anniversary! I have been stalking your nlog for a few months now and I love your scrapbooking.
What started me scrapbooking was the birth of my first child. Since then my three children continue to be the biggest influence in my scrapbooking.

Happy Anniversary! I have been scapbooking on and off since middle school and high school, but really didn't get started in it again until 1996 when my sister-in-law showed me her albums, and I haven't stopped. I love to make mini albums as gifts and scrapbook for my family. It's so addictive! I am a lurker, but i love 2peas and enjoy your blog as well. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hey there, happy Anniversary. =)
I started my scrapbook addiction when my first daughter was just about to be born. How did I know it was going to become a way of life for me??? I love it and it has blessed my life in too many numerous ways to count.

Happy Anniversary. November 13th is also my birthday (45 already and I swear I just turned 21).

I started scrapbooking in 2002. It progressed mostly from my interest in rubber stamping (card and stuff) then my husband bought me my first digital camera and the rest is history!

Happy Anniversary to you!

I have always kept my pictures in photo albums with labels and a scrapbook of movie tickets and such. But one day 7 or 8 years ago, a then co-worker (who's now my BFF) invited me over to her house to scrapbook and to just bring over some pictures and i could play and use her supplies. Well, i was hooked, cause now i could actually take my love of photos and stories plus being creative and make something that would keep them safe for me and generations down the road. I haven't looked back!
I have definetly learned tons from 2peas, the talent there is just spectacular!

I started scrapbooking in 2001. I worked at a summer camp and had to make a gift for a camper. I went to the craft store and saw all the scrappy items and thought, "Why not?" Ever since then, I've been hooked.
